Swiming

We've been doing a lot of swimming this summer. Kyle and Emily have really gotten much more comfortable with the water with the frequent exposure. They could swim before, but now they are much more confident in their swimming abilities, especially Kyle who would always second guess himself in the water. And the pool we've been swimming at is great because it's indoors, but with a retractable roof so it's also somewhat outdoors, but without a huge worry about getting sunburned.

Aaron has also gotten to do some swimming as well. His first time in, he was a bit unsure and clung on for dear life. The subsequent times he got his happy feet going and enjoyed it much more. We could put him out in front of us to kick around.

Reading

Kyle and Emily are reading fiends this summer. They have read a ton of books already and have many more lined up. They are loving it. And we are too as we are getting to re-read some of our favorite books from when we were kids. They've read The Indian in the Cupboard, James and the Giant Peach, Shel Silverstein poems, many fairy books, Encyclopedia Brown, SuperFudge, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and many more. Some we read together. Others they read on their own. And some they read on their own and then we all read together so everyone can enjoy. Right now we are reading Charlotte's Web and Little House on the Prairie.

Redneck nap

Normally Aaron is dressed for his naps and throughout the day. But upon heading to bed, I noticed his clothes had a little diaper leakage on them from the diaper change. He was very tired and falling asleep so I just peeled his clothes off as gently as I could without rousing him too much so he could easily fall asleep.

Beach

Today was beach day. The kids and I all headed over for a picnic lunch and playing in the water and sand. Aaron ate his lunch too, dipped his feet in the water and then decided he had had enough and went to sleep. Jeff met us over there as well for a little lunch and playing in the sand and sun.

Uh oh

Aaron has found his voice. He makes lots of cute sounds and gibberish words. Here he's chatting to me right before his bath. He loves his bath time almost no matter how tired he is and knows when it's time. This is a small except of his talking.

Fairy fest

This was like a dream for Emily. The San Diego Botanic Gardens had a Fairy Festival. And we got our wings and flew up there for some fairy fun. Emily was in heaven!! All kinds of fairies there with plenty of fairy projects - building a fairy house, making pixie dust, decorating a treasure box, making a fairy wand and so much more. Kyle was a great helper to Emily since he knows just how much she loves fairies - as much as he loves monkeys.

The most beautiful flower that we found there.

How fairies sleep

I think she tried to fly away in her sleep, but thankfully came back down to sleep.

Emily's week

While Kyle was in full day tennis camp, Emily and I had some fun together. And Aaron was along for the ride as well. We went to the zoo, played fairies, got pedicures, had lunch dates, and played with friends to name a few things. It was nice to have some Emily time.

Emily joined karate with Kyle the other week. Today she officially got her first belt in the belt ceremony.

Emily driving

Kyle and I were playing tennis outside today and Emily was hula hooping. Then she wasn't. I heard the sliding van door opening and closing many times. I went to see what she was doing and didn't see her in the van. Then I looked in the front seat and she was having a blast 'driving'.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day Jeff! The kids made some great picture frames in school for Jeff. They also got him a science experiment kit that they can work on together. They started off with a magnifying glass one so Jeff took the kids outside to see how to magnify the sun's rays to burn paper. Lovely.

Duke of York

Jeff has been doing Duke of York with Aaron and got some great giggles out of him with it. Kyle has been playing it with Aaron as well.

Scientists

What more than one scientist is called according to Kyle.

Babies

The kid's babysitter came over today with her baby boy. He was born 2 weeks after Aaron. Kyle and Emily had a great time meeting baby Walker. There were a lot of babies we know who were born in the 3 weeks around Aaron.

Thumb at the ready

Because you never know when you might need your thumb in the middle of the night.

Ahhh milk

Thank you Grandma for sending me my frozen milk! So much better!!

Kyle and Emily benefited as well from the shipment. Nothing like playing with dry ice in the sink.

Kyle's last day of Kindergarten

Today was Kyle's last day of Kindergarten. His class also put on a little program for the parents, singing some songs and reciting a poem.

Lost tooth!

Emily lost her first tooth on Sunday. I was out of commission all day so I didn't see the event, but I'm told she pulled it out while playing in her room. It had been loose for at least a month and the adult tooth had grown in behind it already so it was very much ready. Now that adult tooth needs to push up with the rest...

Super Dad

While I was down and out, Jeff took care of the kids all day. He took them out to lunch and grocery shopping. He entertained them with cooking, puzzles and hanging out. They may not have gotten out of pajamas (they all loved it and found it special to have a pajama day), but that's a lot for any dad, no less one with twins and an infant who hasn't taken a bottle except for one bottle when he was a month old. Jeff really is Super Dad.

And the dinner I surfaced around 5pm for was a fabulous tuna nicoise salad. It was amazing. It was one of Jeff's best meals yet.
What?! No fresh milk?! A whole week?! Really Mom?! Are you kidding?!
I'd rather just suck my thumb... (I did mostly go on a hunger (bottle) strike for most of Sunday.)
