Halloween

Halloween was a lot of fun this year. We dressed up as the Incredibles (from the Disney movie) and it was totally wicked! (See the movie and you'll understand.)

We had fun leading up to Halloween carving pumpkins with friends. Carving was fun, but because it was so hot, the pumpkins didn't last very long. But the kids had lots of fun creating their masterpieces and displaying them outside for a few days.

Fairy distracter

Emily put together a fairy distracter. She has an elaborate story about how the fairies needed to be distracted so she could get into the fairy house to fix something up.

Red Macaroni

I'm not sure if it was Aaron's first time having red macaroni, but it just might have been. And he loved it!

Dentist

The kids have never really had an issue with going to the dentist. We never went to the kid specific dentists that have all the crazy kid stuff. I take that back - we took Kyle and Emily when they were 13 months old because everyone said you had to go at 1 year (what a joke). It was a waste of time - the dentist just counted their teeth. Nothing else. Just some screaming from the kids who had waited too long for that. I may have screamed too when I got a bill for someone to count my kids' teeth. But I digress. Since then (or rather once they were 3 when we ventured back to the dentist with them), we take the kids to the dentist we go to and it is great. They even have Angry Birds for us to play. There is a tv in the corner that they turn on cartoons for the kids when they are there. Otherwise it's cooking shows when Jeff and I have been there. So while it's not a kid dentist, it's very kid friendly. And I can't not take pictures of the kids at the dentist playing Angry Birds!

Thinking about crawling

Aaron isn't crawling very much just yet. But he is thinking about it and making some moves on it.

But his thumb keeps getting inthe way.

Legoland

We used day 2 of our Legoland pass today to see what we missed the first time. Well not so much... We saw what we wanted to see and got out of there. It was crowded and we just weren't feeling it. Thankfully we only allotted 3 hours for the visit and we were out before our time was up.

We then went to meet our friends and their kids who live nearby at a fun pizza place for dinner. The kids all had a great time running around and playing golf and avoiding the rain. We did stay past bedtime for Aaron and he passed out on me.

Trampoline

We moved the kids trampoline out of the nook in our room and into their room. Aaron enjoyed a few bounces on the trampoline when it was temporarily parked in the living room. Note to self: next time don't take the trampoline apart, take the door off the frame to get it through the door.

Children's Museum and Irish Pub

We had a fun Saturday out on the town. Downtown. We hadn't been to the Children's Museum in over a year so we thought we'd see what they had changed. Plus, it's kids get in free month around San Diego so even more incentive. Thankfully the place wasn't crowded. But it's not crowded for a reason. It's just not a great children's museum. There is a lot of space and not much substance there. There is probably an hour of entertainment there. Then again, we've been spoiled by other great children's museums in Chicago, Glenview, Indy and Madison in the past few years so it's a hard comparison.

Nevertheless, it was a fun day to spend together. The weather was great, we weren't working and could all just enjoy the day together. And we took the kids to The Field afterward for dinner. Kyle and Emily have been there plenty of times before, though not recently. It was Aaron's maiden voyage to our favorite Irish pub. Hands down the best Irish pub we've been to outside of Ireland. If you think we were the only people who would bring a baby and kids to a bar, guess again! There was another kid a few tables away and another baby, just a few months old, at the table right next to us.
Aaron waking up from his nap while we were sculpting clay
Emily creating her clay heart for her teacher
Kyle on the swing in the park across the street. We probably spent more time there than in the museum.

Aaron was hungry at the park.
At the pub
Catnap before dinner
First bite of Irish stew
Amazing!! He couldn't get enough of it!

Observate

Today we walked the kids home from school. It was the first time they walked to or from school. We finally had a day where it wasn't blazing hot, we weren't running late, and we didn't have to be somewhere right after school. So the stars were aligned for us!

On the way home, Kyle and Emily were telling us about their day and what they learned. This year, they are getting to do much more science! And they are loving it. Emily told us about the clouds she sees in the sky and their names that they learned. We asked Kyle what he likes about science and he said, "I like science because its good to observate."

Music to play

I was spying on Aaron as he played independently. He loves the flowers that Emily played with as a baby. He used them to give himself some music. He would then bobble around a little bit with the music and then go about playing with his toy while the music played in the background. This video is after the 3rd or 4th time he did that.

Cooking

While Jeff and I were cooking dinner, Aaron was getting a bit restless for food in his high chair. The boy doesn't like to wait for food. So Kyle entertained him.

And clearly he likes to entertain him as noted in his school work

Computer time

Never to early to learn the computer.

Aaron playing Baby Giggles just like Kyle and Emily did at his age

Yellow stripe for Emily

Today was belt testing for the kids at karate. Some were earning their first or second yellow stripe, another his purple stripe and others earning their yellow belt. Kyle was just tested so he was not testing. Emily was earning her first yellow stripe today since starting karate just over the summer. Nice work Emily!
