Jazz game

The Jazz made the playoffs again this year so Jeff and I were lucky enough to get the company seats for a game. Was good fun, even if the Jazz didn't do so well.

Emily's Arbor Day poem

Emily is having an excellent school year. Not only did her science team win 1st place in the nation for the Lexus Eco Challenge, she was chosen to read her poem out loud for the city and mayor at the Arbor Day celebrations. Congratulations Emily!!

Winter

Some pictures of our winter...

Uncle Eric sent the kids Patriots hats to celebrate their Super Bowl win

Aaron celebrated 100 days of school with some fun specs

And made us happy hour drinks with them on

Aaron slept like he does so well

The kids and I went to see Wicked. Jeff was out of town in SF with his brothers and friends having a great time.

Deer Valley

Some of the great perks with our ski pass include several days at other resorts to try them out. This year, they had 2 free days at Deer Valley so we had a nice weekend stay-cation in Deer Valley for some skiing. Very much a groomed resort but wide open. A lot fancier than our beloved Snowbird.

Aaron took a spill on one of the moguled black runs and needed ski patrol assistance. It was his first ride with ski patrol and it seems he enjoyed it. Fatigue combined with hitting his knee I think exacerbated the injury. He was totally fine walking that evening and skied the next day as well.

Opening ski season

Jeff and I had planned days off for opening day for ski season. Unfortunately, as soon as we landed for Thanksgiving, we received the notice that opening day was moved up a week because of the great snow conditions. So our opening day would have to wait for the originally scheduled opening day. And so we went. Though we got to the top of the mountain and Jeff realized he grabbed Emily's boots (both were red) so he had to turn around and go back home to get his. Eventually we were both there and got to ski together and enjoy early season skiing. And then we took the kids over the weekend. Great thing about living in a ski city, you can go whenever it suits you and for however long. Of course you can do that on vacation as well, but we prefer the ski for a few hours or longer if it's great and to be able to just come and go as we please.

Hike

Snow and Utah ... This was from a hike in early November where it went from clear and sunny to a path with loads of snow.

Solitude

Today marked 17 years since my dad passed away. I took the morning off to go for a hike in the mountains, on a trail, aptly, to Lake Solitude. What was supposed to be a 3 mile hike turned into 6 because the trail was not well marked. Or it could have been because of all the snow...

Joy

Jeff's babysitter from when he was young has always been in touch with his family as she was part of his family. She was coming to Utah with her sister for an event and knew we lived there so she decided to stop in. It had been many years (decades) since Jeff last saw her and of course the kids had never met her either. We had a great time catching up on life with her and getting to know one another. It was really special to meet her and hear more fun stories of Jeff growing up.

Campfire

Jeff and the kids really wanted to go camping. I don't recall why they ended up not camping, but they still had the fun with the campfire part of the camping and made everyone a good campfire dinner.

Little Cottonwood hikes

Taking in some great hikes here.

Back side of Snowbird. Used to seeing this full of snow and can't wait to ski this.

This is on the way to Cecrete Lake. We sped through it with a rain storm coming on but it was still pretty cool. And Jeff missed it last year when we did it right before the road closed for the season.

Snowbird summer

With our season ski passes, one perk is the summer activities on site. We checked out the Snowbird summer activities last summer and they were pretty awesome. This year, they added a ninja type course to the party. And it was amazing!

Zip line

Warped wall

Spinning tables

Rings

And a tree climb (not part of the ninja course, just another fun activity there)
