Aaron falling asleep

After our outing in DC during Aaron's naptime, he was exhausted. Nevermind that it was 5:30pm and we had just began our 4 hour drive ahead of us, he passed out. And I caught it on video. Isn't he cute?

DC

After Kyle's tournament, we stopped over in DC to see some of our nation's capitol. There is so much to see and do there that we are seeing a little bit at a time as we are up there. We had planned to go to Mount Vernon with this trip, but our time was too limited for that when all was said and done with tennis match times. So we started at the Washington Monument and walked down to the Lincoln Memorial. Talk about spectacular. Walking between the two, we saw the WWII Memorial and Vietnam Memorial. Really a beautiful and moving walk.

Tennis tournament

For the second weekend in a row, Kyle had an away tennis tournament. He has played in this nationwide tournament for the past 2 years. He really enjoys this tournament. Last year he took second and this year he had a great tournament again. His first round match was against a tough #2 seed. Kyle kept his head and won the match 7-5, 6-3 against a competitor who was very animated. His second match, Kyle won 6-0, 6-0. The finals was against the #1 seed. Kyle lost 0-6, 0-6 but he kept his head and played against a great player. The best part of the whole tournament, even better than his second place finish, was that Kyle won the boys sportsmanship award. We were very proud of him and he, rightfully so, was proud of himself. Congrats Kyle!
Since this was an away tournament, we all went again. The kids all had a fun time together. I remember road-tripping as a kid so it's nice to do it with our kids now. Somehow we survived back then without DVD players or video games.

The hotel pool was great. Just the right size and perfect for cooling off in the 100 degree temps we had.

The kids had a fun time in the hotel, laughing hysterically when they should have been sleeping.

Memorial Day

We had a nice Memorial Day weekend with the tennis tournament and then made it home in time to enjoy a day at home before starting the week. We had our friends over to spend the day hanging out and swimming. The kids embraced the beautiful day and had a great time together. We will be spending plenty of time at the pool this summer.

Grandma's visit

Grandma came to visit while the kids were off school this month. This was her first time visiting us here in Raleigh. We loved having her here and the kids were so energized with her. We had so much fun going to the farmers market, making strawberry jam, planting our garden, going to Marbles, visiting Duke gardens, and swimming. Come visit us again soon, Mom!!
