The kids have picked up where they left off with swimming from last summer and their diving board gymnastics.

Summer pool fun

The day after arriving in Salt Lake City, we joined a pool for some summer fun. The pool has a great diving board and the kids have loved perfecting their cannonballs and dives.

Utah living

As we get settled into Utah life, we have found some fun outlets.

Aaron playing basketball. But note his outfit. He really wants to go to work with Jeff one of these days. He said he chose a "collared shirt and collared socks" (dress socks) so he could. And as Mom pointed out, he has on collard green shorts. :-)
Some pool side dinner
Perhaps one of my best timed pictures of Aaron jumping off the diving board but it sure looks like he's walking on water. The kids have become little fish this summer with all their swimming. And Aaron has decided that he doesn't need his flippers any longer. Last summer he ditched his life vest, this summer it's the flippers. Having a brother and sister 5 years older than you sure motivates you to learn fast.
And the mountains are just beautiful.

Aaron swims

So this summer, Aaron decided that he could swim. With lots of practice swimming in our neighborhood pool with Kyle and Emily while wearing his vest, Aaron wanted to swim like his big brother and sister. It all started because Kyle and Em like to swim through our feet as tunnels and Aaron decided he wanted to do that as well. I told him that his vest would prevent that so he couldn't participate. He wasn't satisfied with that and wanted his vest off. He has had some vest off time with us in the water and had mostly opted to keep the vest on. Anyhow, we let him try and the rest is history. From that moment, he was done wearing a vest to swim. He does wear flippers which help propel him and keeps him swimming that much longer.

Now, a few weeks earlier, he had shown us that he knows what he's doing when it comes to swimming. We had just eaten our lunch at the pool and I was scheduling with the babysitter who was also hanging out at the pool. I was under the awning with her and Aaron walked out to the pool (his vest was off because we were having lunch). So you don't think he was unattended / unseen, this distance is all of 5 feet. Aaron walked right into the water and started doggie paddling out to get his flipper that had fallen into the water. I immediately jumped into the water, but he didn't need me at all. He paddled halfway out, got his flipper and paddled back. By himself. The kid is 3 going on 9. Sure pays to have a big brother and big sister.

Don't mind the splashy form mid way.

Memorial Day

We had a nice Memorial Day weekend with the tennis tournament and then made it home in time to enjoy a day at home before starting the week. We had our friends over to spend the day hanging out and swimming. The kids embraced the beautiful day and had a great time together. We will be spending plenty of time at the pool this summer.

Early August beach

So I don't actually remember the full details (i.e., when) these pictures were taken, but I do remember they were some awesome times out enjoying the San Diego sun with friends.
Emily built a fun mud castle on the beach at Coronado with Betsy's kids.
Aaron got really tired at the pool with Kyle & Emily's old preschool buddies. He asked to be covered up because he was cold. But when we peeked under the towel, he was sleeping.

Aaron swimming

The kids are having a fabulous summer here in San Diego. Our clock here is ticking, but we are soaking up the San Diego summer. Aaron has become quite the little fish with all of our trips to the pool. The little guy thinks he can swim like the big kids now because he wears a floatie. (I know that doesn't ensure safety and we are always watching and nearby.)

Emily swims

Emily is doing swim lessons to get her strokes refined because she wants to join the swim team. Yes, it's December and this is an outdoor pool. She is doing a great job with her strokes and is a model student. She should be through stroke school in no time. Great work Emily!
