Biking Raleigh

We took the whole family on the horse farm bike ride today. This time we were ready with carrots and apples to feed the horses. Unfortunately, the horses were far off in the fields and not close enough to feed. Scenic nonetheless.

And Aaron with a chocolate croissant because we have little food in the house these days as we prep for moving so Whole Foods by school has been an easy stop for food / snack.

Harry, the 1 cent dragon ride outside the grocery store. More places should make these rides 1 cent!

Easter ride

After our Easter egg hunt, we were all going to go on a nice bike ride. Kyle and Emily were too tired and too distraught over not being able to solve the egg hunt riddle so they decided to stay back. So Jeff, Aaron, and I set out on a ride. We took a new route, through the forest and out by a farm. We ended up close to the art museum and on a path that actually goes from Florida to Maine! I can't imagine actually doing such a ride, but it was pretty neat to see that that sort of infrastructure does exist and there are people driven... errr.... ridden enough to accomplish such a feat. Anyhow, our ride was wonderful and we (Jeff & Aaron) stopped to feed the horses (I observed). And again, since I was hauling Aaron in the trailer (and I should say that the trailer is awesome and Aaron can actually contribute and pedal, but it's still heavy to haul), I made sure we got to have ice cream (Goodberry's Custard) that evening as well. Yes, I love ice cream.

Breakfast in bed from Aaron

Aaron made me breakfast in bed. So thoughtful of him. Sweet heart!

Memories

A few things from my childhood that I have found lately:

Cracklebread and cheese. This was a breakfast staple. And the kids love this too!
Cadbury Fruit and Nut. Something we had with Dad. So so good.

Aaron & Tony

Aaron with one of our favorite people in North Carolina. Aaron climbed right up on Tony's lap to play some Tower Game.

Carolina Hurricanes

Our realtor had a client appreciation night and treated everyone to a hockey game. Jeff has always wanted to go to a professional hockey game so this was a perfect opportunity to check this item off the bucket list. We don't really follow hockey so we didn't know where either team stood in terms of playoffs or even the season, but it was awesome nonetheless. Before the game even started, our realtor told us we won some raffle so we were gifted a gift card to a great taco restaurant in town. Wahoo! The game was fun and seemed relatively high scoring for hockey. And it even went to overtime. And it was still tied so we got to see a shootout! Talk about getting your hockey's worth! Pretty incredible! The Hurricanes weren't on the winning side of things, but it was great to see the full cycle of a hockey game for our first professional game!

Aaron's spring break

Aaron was on spring break this week. It was a chill week and we had some fun together while the kids were in school and Jeff was in Utah. This day we took a bike ride to the park for a picnic lunch. And then on to ice cream. When I was growing up, that is one thing I remember - bike rides to get ice cream. And when you are hauling 40+ pounds of kid plus 20 pounds of trailer in hilly terrain, ice cream is definitely warranted! And Aaron certainly did not mind!

Duke gardens

It was a beautiful spring day here in Raleigh and we had not been up to Duke in a while. Also, on Jeff's NC bucket list was Vietnamese Saturday lunch at Bahn's. So up we went!

The gardens were pretty spectacular. The blooms, the scents, the warm sun. It was excellent.

Apparently Kyle has been teaching Aaron to meditate.
We are still looking for our tree from college, though we both grant that it is likely covered over by more bark - after all it's been about 20 years - and plenty of other foliage around it.
