Easter Egg Hunt (2014)

Easter Egg Hunt

Kyle, Emmie, Bear-Bear
Happy Easter to you three.
A special treat we have in store,
so excited you should be.

Again on Easter Egg Hunt
do we now send you on,
but challenges you have not seen
await to give you fun.

This third of Easter Egg Hunts
your expertise does show.
Too easy to repeat it:
at this you are now pro.

New hints, more challenging,
in eggs await you now,
and what is more a special trick,
so attention you’ll allow:

Each egg you find a number has
as secrets for the final clue
so keep good track and write them down
to see the egg hunt through.

A space you see for each egg here
18 eggs there are for you.
In order write the numbers down
to keep the answer true.

To figure out the cipher,
think Air-Bear’s ordered test:
His ABC’s, his 123’s,
will be needed if you’re blessed.

Do not fret our children now.
We do believe in you.
To figure out the answer
think of all B’s as 2.

New rules as well, we do insist,
shall guide your egg hunt’s stroll:
Switch off each egg as “reader”
and as “number-writer” role.

What’s more: your little brother,
To be like you he’ll beg.
Some clues have bolded guidance:
Let Bear Bear find that egg!

And at the end a special prize
for each of you does wait.
If you can solve them all and more
stand up and seize your fate.

For intellect and thinking hard
are now the tools to use.
Be off, enjoy the hunt,
and Mommy’s / Daddy’s ruse.

The Easter Eggs are near now,
On this I'd like to bet.
The first place that one’s hiding in
He’s bound to get quite wet.

EGGS:

(1 - Shower)
Roses are red
violets are blue
look in the place
where we keep your shoes

(2 - shoe box in garage)
To check the mail you'll need a key,
Hiding in your mailbox is clue #3

(3 - mailbox)
Pink Pens and Pencils
Books and lunch
you’ll find me here
I have a hunch.
(4 - Emily’s backback)
Buttons here for Bear to push
to make your food get warm.
And timers ring as cooking’s guide
does tell in its alarm.

(5 - microwave)
I have four legs but cannot walk;
each night at this we all do talk.

(6 - dining table)
Seek Bear-Bear’s Mo-Mo for this egg,
but where on here to look?
Look for the source of magic
that lets this baby cook!

(7 - MoMo battery compartment)
You've been at this for some time
Now you're getting the rhythm
your next egg/clue is hidden
upon the Rayman system!

(8 - Playstation)
THIS CLUE IS FOR BEAR.  READ IT OUT LOUD FOR HIM.
You've been searching for a while;
a noble troupe your crew.
Be careful: this one’s smelly:
It's hidden in Bear's shoe!!!

(9 - Bear’s shoe)
It spins around
It makes me dizzy
But when it’s done
my clothes feel frizzy

(10 - Dryer)
What do you need to have to get the cereal from the bowl to your mouth?

(11 - spoon spot in the drawer)
Come find me before `the mouse’ eats me!

(12 - Computer)
At beach or patio, in it I play and bustle
but for this clue there is no need
for you to build a castle.

(13 - In the sandbox)
THIS CLUE IS FOR BEAR.  READ IT OUT LOUD FOR HIM.
To always be clean is what 14 wishes,
This clue can be found in the washer of dishes.
(hint:  not Mommy)

(14 - Dishwasher)
Next to a popsicle, which is really quite silly,
Is egg number 15, in a place dark and chilly.

(15 - Freezer)
Buckled in baby, safe and ready for a drive,
Clue number 16 should be easy to find.

(16 - Bear’ car seat)
YOU CAN HELP LEAD BEAR TO THIS PLACE. PLEASE LET HIM FIND THE EGG.  TELL HIM HOW.
You sit on me at day
Sometimes you even lay
To watch a show: a George or Chopped
Or oft for games to play.
(hint: Ostrich)

(17 - Couch)
2X - 5 = 11
make a rhyme with the answer,
and go to the……

(18 - Gate)
The egg hunt is done,
but no prizes yet won.
To the numbers now ponder,
But if your guesses do wander
and help you do seek
for the answers to peek.
Look back at the start
at the blue instruction part.

Em's story

Emily brought home her writing packet from school for the fall. It's really cute to see the mind of a 7 year old at work and what they remember. Here is one of her stories.
Once Kyle and me were in my room picking out or clothes for the night. Then we need[ed] Daddy for something. Daddy I yelled. Daddy!! Kyle yelled. We asked Mommy if she knew where daddy was. She said she didn't know. So we went back to the stairs and picked out our clothes. Then we were going to turn on the shower and BOO!! screamed Daddy and jumped into the balcony. Kyle and me both fell to the floor in peals of laughter and tears. It was so funny.

Dancing to Christmas music

Aaron sure loves music. Whenever it is on, he struts around and starts dancing. Gotta love how kids can just get up and dance without worry about their moves or anything.

Conversation with Kyle

This was funny at the time, though without the moment and being there it is likely not as funny.

We were driving home from somewhere and Aaron was fussy (tired) but calming down / falling asleep.  When we are so close to home, we don't like to let him fall asleep in the car and take a quick 5 minute catnap at the expense of a good, longer nap in his crib.

Me: Is Aaron sucking his thumb?
Kyle: Yes. He sometimes does that to shut himself up.
Me: [chuckle under my breath 'shut himself up' which Kyle heard]
Kyle: Yes to put a cork in it.

Conversations with a tiger and a sausage

Two conversations from this morning that were quite cute!

As I was doing Emily's hair before preschool...
Emily [holding her little plastic tiger and looking him in the eyes]: Tiger, please don't growl.  I don't like it when you growl.  It scares me.
Sets the tiger down next to the sink, looking at her.
Emily: Tiger, remember, I told you not to growl!
pause
Emily:  Good tiger!

Kyle at breakfast, having a heart to heart with his veggie sausage...
Kyle gobbles a bite of sausage.
Kyle then picks up the sausage again, looks at it with the bite taken out of it
Kyle: Sausage, can I please put you in my belly?
pause
Kyle: Okay, good!  Ready, set, go!
CHOMP!

Kyle loves Miko

Kyle is such a sweet boy. He sure loves his Miko! This totally ranks up there for him in the sweetness category... He tucked his Miko into his bed, read him his favorite book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and then sang him a song!
Miko tucked in... "In the light of the moon..."

See the picture Miko!

On Friday he ate...

Mommy, I'm reading Miko a story before he goes for his rest!

Kyle also sang Miko The Miko Song.  Way too sweet!

(We sing the Miko and Deedee** song each night before bedtime.  They are songs we made up for them that go to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star...)

The Miko Song for Kyle

Miko, Miko, sweet little monkey
He likes to eat his bananas chunky.

Miko, Miko belongs with Kyle
Miko, Miko always makes him smile

Miko, Miko, sweet little monkey
He likes to eat his bananas chunky.

The Deedee song for Emily

Deedee, Deedee sweet little woobie,
Emily loves her woobie, goodie!

Deedee has corners, four of them,
Emily likes to rub and chew on them.

Deedee, Deedee sweet little woobie,
Emily loves her woobie, goodie!

How did these names come about:
Miko: We were asking what the Spanish name for monkey was and were told miko, mono and chongo.  For a while Kyle's monkey was called Miko Mono, but he became Miko and now even responds to Meeks.
Deedee: Emily received her deedee from Aunt Kristin and Uncle David when she was about 5 months old.  We referred to it as her blankie and woobie (from the 'hit' '80'smovie Mr. Mom).  When Emily started to talk, blankie and woobie came out as Deedee and thus the name was born.  She can now say blankie and woobie, but that is just a descriptor of what it is, Deedee (and sometimes Deeds)is her woobie's name!

Emily reads Wiggle

Emily loves the Wiggle book. Tonight (a few nights ago now that the video is actually uploading) she read along and danced along with the story. She knows that book quite well! Thank you to Uncle Eric, Aunt Stephanie and Jadon (and now Brennan!) for such a great book!

Emily's sense of humor

Emily is showing quite the sense of humor lately. Maybe it's that she's getting more and more creative, but whatever it is, she sure makes us laugh!

The other morning, she woke up, went potty, got dressed and was standing there brushing her teeth while I was doing her hair.
Emily: [tummy rumbles loudly]
Emily: Wow, that's my tummy! My tummy is growling!
Mommy: Sure is noisy!
Emily: [tummy rumbles again, louder and longer this time]
Emily: Woah! Motzie is in my tummy!!! (giggles)

As many of you know, the kids sometimes struggle with eating. Either they aren't that hungry or just being picky, but we sometimes do battle with "eattime". Lately, we've been telling them they need to eat their yummy meals so they can grow big and strong. That seems to have struck a cord with them because the other day Emily ate all of her lunch very nicely and when she finished she emphatically declared, "Look, I ate all my eattime! I ate so nicely! Now I'm big and strong. Can I please be excused?" I love how matter-of-fact she is about it! Kyle has also gotten in on the growing big and strong by eating his meals as he proudly tells us that when he eats nicely and grows bigger, he will "jump up and reach the black zip line" (at the kiddie gym).

And the other night, the kids were reading me some bedtime stories. Well they both read me "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". Kyle first and then Emily. (There will eventually be a video up of Kyle reading the book from weeks ago but I've been struggling to get it to post b/c of the size but hopefully tonight's the night!) But this past night was the first time that Emily has read me that book. So the following conversation ensued between Kyle and Emily as Emily was on the page where the caterpillar eats a whole bunch of stuff on Saturday ranging from a pickle and sausage to lollipops and cupcakes.

Emily: On Saturday he ate some chlocolate cake and ice cream cone and pickle and slice of cheese and salami and cherry pie and hot dog and cupcake and ...
Kyle: No Emmie, that's a sausage. It's not a hot dog!
Emily: One sausage, one cupcake ...
Kyle: Good Emmie! That's right! It's a sausage!
Emily: No, it's a hot dog.
Kyle: No, it's a sausage Emmie!
Emily: It's a sausage, but it looks like a hot dog! One hot dog, one cupcake and one piece of watermelon...

I'm sure writing this conversation down here doesn't quite capture just how funny it was, but I assure you it was quite amusing! They were both so serious and sure they were right!

little sweetie pies

Last week, Kyle says to me, "Mommy, you are a sweet girl! Can I sing you a song?" It was so sweet! He then proceeded to sing me the Hanukkah song, ABCs and I'm a Little Teapot. He's so sweet!

And he is so sweet with Emily. Just a few of what he has said to her:
"Hi punkin pie!"
"Emily, you are a sweet girl!"
"Hi princess!"

And Emily is very sweet with Kyle. She love Kyle and knows she can count on him to help her. Aunt Stephanie gave her a box of jewelry, but Emily hasn't mastered opening it yet so she always goes to Kyle to get the box opened. One day recently they were playing with Grandma Beth's jewelry and Kyle was getting tired. Emily turns to him and says, "you tired punkin pie?" So very sweet!!
