Aaron & Alice

Aaron loves his best friend Alice. They spend most days together. Her mom and I have a great time together so everyone is happy. Alice's brother, A.J., is now home as well so he has joined the A-team. These three are quite the trio on our many adventures.

Checking out the koi pond at the Japanese Gardens in Balboa Park. The Japanese Garden is my most favorite place in Balboa Park. It's just peaceful and serene and brings such a nice feeling of tranquility even during stressful times.

Feeding the fish

Aaron just taking some time to chill and see the lower gardens from above.

This is from our visit to the Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park. This is a fun place as well and reminds me of my dad who loved planes and aviation. It makes me think of him and his model airplanes spread out on the table as he meticulously put them together.

Aaron and Alice in the back seat of the helicopter. Apparently the front wasn't cool enough with the buttons and controls. The back seat was, well, the back seat. With seat belts to put on. And a small window to say hi through.

This was from Alice's house. Yes, Aaron is still in his pajamas. He likes his monkey jams. And well, it was one of those days. Kyle was home sick with a crazy high fever, I was in running clothes (i.e., I didn't have time to shower due to the middle of the night wake-ups with Kyle so I was pretty zonked in the morning until school drop off for Emily) and we had a day and plans to get to. Anyhow, Alice, AJ & Aaron were having lunch together and decided to play musical chairs. They were so cute and were just posing for pictures together. What a pair these two are! When we are out, Betsy and I are often asked if these cute little blondies are twins. Aaron will surely miss his Alice.

The Walrus

So our Oldies station out here is 105.7 the Walrus. We often play it in the car and the kids enjoy the music. The other day we were driving, the DJ came on at the end of the song and said what he needed to say and ended it by saying "105.7 the Walrus". Right behind me sits Aaron and in that short pause between "105.7" and "the Walrus", I hear this sweet little Aaron voice saying, "wawus". He now asks for "wawus" when we get in the car for music. And whenever he hears music, he gets all excited and proclaims, "wawus!!"

Cubs game

Today we went to the Cubs game with Mike, Mary and their two boys, Mason & Max. Technically, it was the Padres game since we are in San Diego after all, but with our ties and Mike's ties to Chicago, it was the Cubs game. And we were all wearing whatever Cubs gear we have and were cheering for the Cubbies to win.

Jeff, Emily, Kyle, Mike, Mary and their boys took the trolley down to the game. Aaron and I biked down after Aaron finished up his nap. It was a wonderful time cheering for our Cubs. Too bad the Cubs didn't pull this victory off, but it was fun to get back to Petco and take in the game with great friends.

Happy Birthday Spike

Happy Birthday Spike! We were happy to have a burrito in your honor. Nothing like some Lucha Libre veggie burritos and cilantro cream sauce.

Beach buddies

This week it has been incredibly warm here. So warm that there were multiple wild fires and school was even cancelled. The rest of the country has snow days, but in San Diego, we had a fire day. Luckily, we were luckily impacted where we live with the exception of air quality. Anyhow, we took the opportunity to hit the beach, surf and go swimming. After school, Haiden and her mom joined us at Coronado for some surfing and boogie boarding while we had a showing going on at our house.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day weekend was awesome! We did brunch on Saturday so that we could hit the beach nice and early Sunday before nap time.
Trying to get out the door... Aaron with no pants and Mater...
Kyle hitting some tennis balls.
Kyle & Emily ready to board.

Bear & Daddy

Kyle & Bear

Emily pouting. She got really tired all of a sudden so she needed a break.

Bear in the tent. Also tired.

Me and my babies. They made me "Mom".

After the beach, we went over to the Del to have a nice quick lunch. We went home, Bear took a late nap, and Jeff, Emily, and Kyle cooked a delicious dinner of ricotta gnocci, asparagus and snap peas. The kids also made me a delicious chocolate cake with coconut whipped cream frosting. Mmmmmm!

Bear in a box. :-)

This was just me being silly with the kids at bedtime. Too much Celine Dion on the internet radio...

Ben & David visit

Josh, Stephanie, Ben, and David were in Anaheim visiting their grandparents so they came down to San Diego for a day so we could all hang out. It was wonderful having them here with us. They arrived bright and early as we were waking for the day so we went out for a delicious breakfast together. We had an open house scheduled for that day and Ian & Judy were in town so we planned to spend the afternoon out and about. We had bikes for all so we headed down to the channel to play on the water and parks.

We set up camp on the grass and rented some stand up paddle boards so there was something for everyone.

Aaron got on a paddle board. For a minute. He was not happy. Granted it was past his naptime, but he was not happy. He just wanted off.

Aaron with me on the board. That little blip to the right is Kyle out for a swim. The kid suddenly became fearless and went for a swim. He had a life jacket on, but it was surprising for him. He loves playing with Ben and with Ben being older, he wants to be able to do what Ben can do.

Emily & David playing in the sand. They are two peas in a pod.

Aaron didn't care that he didn't have his swim suit on. He just wanted to be in the water.

I believe this is Josh & Ben on the water.

Aaron was clearly tired. He skipped his nap this day. He asked Emily for "uppies".

Afterwards, we rode over to Point Loma Seafoods for some lunch. At 3pm. It was delicious. Even better, the kids had a kids table, Aaron included. And we had an adult table with us, Josh & Stephanie, Ian & Judy. It was just a wonderful day with wonderful people.
